In modern gaming chairs, you can usually expect to find features like RGB lights, extra comfort padding and adjustable backrests. But you might not have known that some models also feature fixed armrests that can be adjusted in 4 dimensions (or 4D). So what exactly are these 4D armrests and how do they work?
A fixed armrest sits on top of the chair seat and features a post that runs perpendicular to it. The actual armrest is then placed on top of the post to form a T shape. These kinds of armrests can often be raised and lowered to suit your height and ergonomic needs. They can even be tilted forwards and backwards. However, there is one drawback to a fixed T-arm. Over time, the armrest can begin to break due to constant pressure. This is because the epoxy used to glue the components together weakens over time. The good news is that you can easily repair this issue using a piece of rope and some epoxy.
When repairing your gaming chair armrests, you should first remove any loose parts from the broken area. Then, using the rope, apply a constant amount of pressure to the broken area. This will clamp the broken pieces of armrest together and help them stay tight for 10 to 15 minutes. After that, clean away any excess epoxy from the glued areas with a damp cloth. Finally, wrap the entire area with duct tape to reinforce the bond and prevent it from breaking again.
While some people might argue that a fixed armrest is not as comfortable as an adjustable armrest, it’s important to remember that you can still adjust your posture and sit up straight. This will prevent your spine from forming an ugly c shape as you sit for long periods of time. And this will reduce the risk of health issues such as slipped discs.
